CryptoParty v 1.0

Posted by The DFI Team on Mon 26 June 2017

Join the Digital Freedom Initiative at our first CryptoParty!

Saturday, July 8 @ 7 PM - 12 AM

The Magalen

5203 Fleet Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44105

We will discuss the importance of digital security in the era of mass state and corporate surveillance in a fun, free and friendly setting.

This first party will include presentations, including a short introduction to our organization and then a longer discussion about our newly released report, "A Primer on Surveillance and Intelligence Gathering in the City of Cleveland."

We will also have the DFI HACKER LAB on location, where you can take part in hands-on learning about hacking computer systems and defending yourself from cyber attack.

There will also be a station to create a Tails Disk - an encrypted and memoryless Linux operating system that boots from a USB drive that allows you browse the Internet and communicate anonymously. Bring your own blank 8 GB USB drive!

Following the presentations, we will have a reception with light refreshments and electronic music, featuring DJ sets from ADAB, KIERNAN LAVEAUX and a live performance of analog, modular and homebuilt synthesizers by Cleveland-based techno producer GLACIAL 23.
